ODMH announces plans to close the Central Ohio Adolescent Center (COAC). ODMH asks area Boards to form consortium to plan services.
1985
Five Southern Ohio ADAMHS Boards come together for planning purposes. Eventually, four remain.
1987
The SCC Plan is submitted and approved by ODMH.
1988
Interboard Agreement authorizing SCC's formation was executed between the four Boards. Steve Trout was hired as Regional Coordinator.
1988
COAC closed.
1989
Private psychiatric hospitals recruited to form a network of inpatient care. The SCC became fully operational, managing inpatient services for indigent youth throughout the ten counties.

A Place in Our Community grant received from ODMH.
1990 to 1993
Integrated System of Care grant received from state cluster.
1991
The four Boards pass a resolution to abolish the Interboard Agreement and establish the SCC as a Regional Council of Governments.

Runaway and Homeless Youth grant received from the Administration for Children and Families, U.S. DHHS.

SCC selected as semifinalist for the Innovations in State and Local Government Award - JFK School of Government, Harvard University, and the Ford Foundation.
